Hot Topic Exhibits

My exhibit, “The Fight for Women at Work,” is about standing up for women against sexual harassment in the workplace. It was important to me that viewers left my exhibit impacted by the stories they read with quantitative knowledge on how to defend women’s rights. On the left are real stories from women I know personally. To make the exhibit interactive and personal, I attached “quiz” links to each story so viewers could understand how the consequences for perpetrators are not always realized. (Click the image above to access the quiz.) The data is the second most important part of my exhibit. Percentages relating to workplace sexual harassment statistics are displayed as bars across both sides of my exhibit.

Going, Going Virtual

Typically, the graduate exhibition would be an in-person event with physical structures, but our class chose to craft a virtual reality exhibit space that could be walked through digitally. Our digital event designer worked with VR All Art, a Switzerland company that converts physical structures to a virtual form, to lay out the exhibition in a virtual three dimensional space. (Click the above to access the exhibition.) The theme for our show coupled our senior virtual experience with the exhibit’s purpose to showcase our social issue topics.

Designers Behind the Show

The web team designed a simple website to showcase each senior designer and their social issue topics. Using our pictures, onlookers could access our personal pages, which included our portrait, exhibit render, and topic explanation. On the homepage and through the sidebar people could also access our virtual exhibit. Our senior photos were inspired by a spending a year attending classes on Zoom – business attire on top and casual dress on the bottom.

Designing the Exhibit Yearbook

Our senior exhibition book and website were two different platforms that held the same information. The web and publications teams worked closely together to make sure each resource was similarly designed and displayed the same content. As part of the publications team, I collaborated on the design for the student pages.
